Glenn Maxwell's fantasy month of cricket has proceeded with the Australian gloating an unbeaten record in the early phases of his first real captaincy part.
Four weeks after he indented his lady Test century, a leap forward 104 against India in Ranchi, Maxwell has helped his Kings XI Punjab open their Indian Premier League battle with back to back wins.
The privilege hander has posted scores of 44no and 43no at a strike rate of superior to anything 200 in two effective run pursues and says he's flourished with the additional duty of being his side's captain.
What's more, previous Australia chief and IPL-winning mentor Ricky Ponting says the height to a position of authority could be the start of something exceptional for the mysterious all rounder.
"I was a tiny bit astounded (they made him chief) yet I'm very energized for him to get that open door," Ponting told cricket.com.au a week ago.
"I really think it'll bring the best out of him. His most recent few years of IPL cricket haven't been in the same class as the years earlier, however to get that bit a greater amount of duty could be exactly what he needs.
"We've recently observed him have a leap forward Test innings two or three weeks back, which I think charmed all of Australia. Everybody has been sitting tight for that breakout execution and there it was.
"This could simply be the begin. It could be the start of a, decent back portion of Glenn Maxwell's life. So I want him to enjoy all that life has to offer."
Also, the Australian says the certainty he picked up from his achievement Test arrangement has helped him make a solid begin to the competition.
"I think it was essentially a fresh start for the entire group," Maxwell said a week ago.
"We came in with clear personalities ... we can't control what's occurred in the past however ideally we can control what occurs in our future.
"I've been hitting the ball great and it's been decent to be agreeable in my line-up in the group and feel like I can control my own fate in that.
"It's decent to have the initiative, it's given me an additional piece of obligation and I'm truly flourishing with that right now."
